Danum Valley Expedition with INFAPRO Reforestation Stay

About Danum Valley Field Centre

OVERVIEW

Immerse yourself in the pristine wilderness of Borneo with this 5D4N Danum Valley Expedition, offering a perfect balance of comfort, adventure, and purpose. Your base at INFAPRO, a working reforestation site just outside the Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC), provides spacious accommodation with 24-hour electricity for uninterrupted fan use, lighting, and charging – ideal for wildlife photographers, researchers, and comfort-conscious travellers. This tour is a great mid-range alternative: more comfortable than DVFC’s basic lodgings, yet far more affordable than Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Each day features 4x4 safari drives and expert-guided jungle treks, giving you the chance to observe Borneo’s incredible biodiversity, from orangutans and hornbills to pygmy elephants and flying squirrels. As the sun sets, explore the rainforest’s nocturnal side through night walks and drives, then end your journey with a spectacular sunrise at Bukit Atur. With fewer crowds, full access to DVFC, and the chance to contribute directly to conservation through your stay at INFAPRO, this expedition offers an immersive and meaningful way to experience the Danum Valley Conservation Area.

LOCATION / HOW TO GET HERE

Located just 11 kilometres from Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC), INFAPRO offers a peaceful base on the fringe of one of Borneo’s most biodiverse rainforests. Originally established as a reforestation project, INFAPRO now provides travellers with a more spacious and comfortable alternative to DVFC’s research-focused setting. With larger rooms, attached bathrooms, and round-the-clock electricity, it’s well suited for nature lovers who value both access and ease.

Guests stay at INFAPRO, while guided activities take place primarily within the trail systems of Danum Valley. Mornings are spent exploring the jungle on foot with expert guides, where sightings may include orangutans, hornbills, and other iconic rainforest species. In the evenings, the roads surrounding INFAPRO offer a rare window into the nocturnal world—home to elusive creatures such as leopard cats, marbled cats, flat-headed cats, Bornean clouded leopards, and arboreal mammals like the Western tarsier and slow loris.

All rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, hot showers and 24-hour electricity. Meals are served buffet-style at the dining hall, with special dietary requests available upon advance notice. Combining comfort, seclusion, and direct access to Danum Valley, INFAPRO makes a strong choice for a well-rounded rainforest experience in Borneo.
