4D3N Danum Valley Wildlife Adventure with INFAPRO Reforestation Stay

Overview of Location

Experience the best of Danum Valley’s ancient rainforest with this 4D3N safari and reforestation retreat, offering a unique blend of comfort, biodiversity access, and conservation impact. Based at INFAPRO, a live reforestation site within the Ulu Segama Forest Reserve adjacent to the Danum Valley Conservation Area, you'll enjoy spacious resthouses and 24-hour electricity – ideal for charging camera gear, using medical devices, or staying connected. While DVFC remains a key hub for field research and nature exploration, INFAPRO offers a quieter, more comfortable base for travellers seeking a mid-range option between budget field station and luxury eco-lodge.

Throughout your stay, venture deep into the jungle on daily 4x4 safari drives and guided rainforest walks. From misty sunrise views at Bukit Atur to thrilling night safaris, you’ll have numerous chances to spot orangutans, hornbills, pygmy elephants, flying squirrels, and other elusive wildlife. A natural wildlife corridor connects INFAPRO and DVFC, boosting your chances of seeing both rare and nocturnal species in the surrounding forest. With fewer tourists and quieter surroundings, your stay at INFAPRO offers not just immersion – but a way to contribute to the regeneration of one of Borneo’s most important ecosystems.

LOCATION / HOW TO GET HERE

Just 11 kilometres from Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC), INFAPRO offers a quieter, more spacious alternative to staying inside the main research hub. Originally established as a reforestation project, this site now doubles as a comfortable base for exploring one of Borneo’s most iconic rainforests. With larger rooms, ensuite bathrooms, and 24-hour electricity, INFAPRO caters to travellers seeking a more relaxed, mid-range experience without compromising access to Danum Valley’s incredible biodiversity.

While accommodation is based at INFAPRO, most guided activities take place inside DVFC. Trek along established jungle trails, where rare bird species, orangutans, and towering dipterocarp trees await at every turn. After dark, the roads around INFAPRO become a hotspot for nocturnal wildlife. Night drives may reveal secretive species like marbled cats, flat-headed cats, leopard cats, and even the elusive Bornean clouded leopard, along with sightings of Western tarsiers, slow lorises, and binturongs.

INFAPRO features two resthouse options that include attached bathrooms with hot showers. Meals are served buffet-style at the nearby dining hall, with special dietary needs accommodated upon request. Whether you’re here for photography, wildlife, or simply to slow down in nature, INFAPRO delivers a rewarding Danum experience with space to breathe.
