Danum Valley Wildlife Adventure with INFAPRO Reforestation Stay

About Danum Valley Field Centre

OVERVIEW

Discover the best of the Danum Valley Conservation Area on this 4D3N adventure that offers a unique blend of comfort, biodiversity, and purpose-driven travel. Unlike the basic, compact rooms at Danum Valley Field Centre, where electricity is switched off nightly from 23:00 Hrs to 07:00 Hrs, the resthouse at INFAPRO provides spacious, well-ventilated accommodations with 24-hour electricity, ideal for travellers who prioritise comfort, need to charge camera or medical equipment overnight, or simply prefer uninterrupted access to fans and lighting. It's the perfect mid-range alternative, bridging the gap between budget stays and luxury lodges like Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Your days will be filled with daily 4x4 safari drives and guided nature walks through some of Borneo’s most ancient and biologically diverse rainforests. From sunrise excursions to night safaris, you’ll have ample opportunity to spot orangutans, hornbills, flying squirrels, and other iconic wildlife. Staying at INFAPRO means more than comfort; it places you in the heart of a live reforestation project, actively restoring degraded forest and contributing directly to long-term conservation efforts. With fewer tourists and quieter surroundings, this is a more intimate and meaningful way to experience the 130-million-year-old Danum Valley.

LOCATION / HOW TO GET HERE

INFAPRO is a forest restoration site located just 11 kilometres, or about a 15 to 20-minute drive, from Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC). Established to support the rehabilitation of previously logged areas, it also serves as a quiet base for visitors looking to experience the biodiversity of Danum Valley without staying at the main centre.

Guests stay at INFAPRO, but guided activities such as nature walks and wildlife observation are typically carried out along the established trail system at DVFC. At night, the roads around INFAPRO offer a different kind of experience, with the chance to spot elusive nocturnal wildlife like leopard cats, marbled cats, flat-headed cats, and the Bornean clouded leopard. Other species that may be seen include the Western tarsier, slow loris, otter civet, and binturong.

Accommodation at INFAPRO includes rooms with attached bathrooms, hot showers, and 24-hour electricity. Meals are served buffet-style at the nearby dining hall, and special dietary requests can be arranged with advance notice.
