3D2N Blue Rings Reef & Borneo Rainforest Lodge – Danum Valley Eco-Adventure

Overview of Location

Discover two of Sabah’s most breathtaking landscapes in one journey — the turquoise waters of Blue Rings Reef and the ancient rainforest of Danum Valley. This 3-day, 2-night adventure is designed for travellers who want to experience the very best of Borneo’s marine and jungle wonders in a compact but unforgettable itinerary.

Begin with a coastal escape at the Silam Coast Conservation Area, where Blue Rings Reef and nearby islands reveal pristine coral gardens, colourful reef fish, and untouched beaches. After a refreshing morning by the sea, travel inland to the award-winning Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL), set deep in the heart of Danum Valley Conservation Area. Here, you’ll be immersed in one of the world’s oldest rainforests, guided by expert naturalists through trails, canopy walkways, and rivers alive with orangutans, hornbills, pygmy elephants, and countless other species.

With its seamless combination of reef and rainforest, this itinerary offers an extraordinary taste of Borneo’s biodiversity, luxury, and adventure.

LOCATION / HOW TO GET HERE

The closest gateway town to Danum Valley is Lahad Datu, located on the south-eastern coast of Sabah.

Buses are available from Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, and Semporna. Overland journeys typically take between 5 to 7 hours, depending on the departure point.

Daily flights from Kota Kinabalu to Lahad Datu are available via MASWings, taking approximately 55 minutes. From Lahad Datu, it is approximately 97 km to Borneo Rainforest Lodge, taking about 2.5 hours. The first 15 km is a sealed road along the Lahad Datu–Tawau highway, before continuing on an 82 km gravel track into the heart of the rainforest.

For a more comfortable and personalised journey, guests may request a private tour with dedicated guide and vehicle.
