5D4N Borneo Rainforest Lodge & Blue Rings Reef – Danum Valley Immersion
Overview of Location
This 5-day, 4-night journey offers the most immersive way to experience Sabah’s two greatest natural treasures — the coastal beauty of Blue Rings Reef and the ancient wilderness of Danum Valley. Begin your adventure at the Silam Coast Conservation Area, where coral reefs, nesting seabirds, and tranquil beaches set the tone for discovery. After a morning of sea breezes and exploration, head inland to the award-winning Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL).
At BRL, days unfold with guided treks, canopy walks, tubing excursions, and waterfall visits, while nights come alive with safari drives and torch-lit jungle walks. With four days in the rainforest, you’ll have ample opportunities to spot orangutans, gibbons, hornbills, pygmy elephants, and elusive nocturnal creatures. Designed with a slower pace and added flexibility, this itinerary balances eco-luxury comfort with deeper rainforest immersion, making it the most comprehensive of the reef-and-rainforest packages.
LOCATION / HOW TO GET HERE
The closest town to Danum Valley is Lahad Datu, located on Sabah’s south-eastern coast.
Buses are available from Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, and Semporna. Travel times range from 5 to 7 hours depending on departure point.
MASWings operates daily flights from Kota Kinabalu to Lahad Datu (approx. 55 minutes). From Lahad Datu, it is approximately 97 km (2.5 hours) to reach Borneo Rainforest Lodge. The first 15 km follows a paved highway, before continuing on an 82 km gravel track through the rainforest.
For added comfort and flexibility, guests may book a private transfer with dedicated guide and vehicle.
